Statue & Artwork Information:

A monumental bronze statue depicting the University of Iowa’s famed “Herky the Hawk” mascot. Born of a cartoon in 1945, Herky has been a mascot of Hawkeye pride for over 50 years, and has been a symbol of school pride and patriotism since his inception. During the Korean War, Herky donned a military uniform and became the mascot for the 124th Fighting Squadron.
